For any aspiring writers out there, would you please share a short bit of writing advice?
Don’t be afraid to share your work. Early in my writing life, I was too afraid to show anyone my work — the lack of feedback meant I stalled easily, got stuck inside my own head. I wouldn’t recommend sharing work widely — you don’t want too many competing opinions — perhaps choose a trusted friend who enjoys the same writers you do.
What is the last book you raved about and what did you love about it?
Orbital by Samantha Harvey is a short novel about six astronauts on a space station orbiting the earth 16 times in a single day. It is exquisite; every sentence is considered, every character rendered vivid. It’s a hopeful book, too, about the earth and about humanity. I loved it.
