A Conversation with Lisa Scottoline
A writing tip, book recommendation, and other great insights from Lisa that were not covered in our on-air interview!
For any aspiring writers out there, would you please share a short bit of writing advice?
The best writing advice I would give anybody is simple, and I tell it to myself every day: get it down, then get it good. A variant of this is what Hemingway said, which is, “Write drunk, edit sober.” LOL. The idea is the same in each. Just let the thoughts flow on your first draft and you can edit it later to make it perfect.
What is the last book you raved about and what did you love about it?
A book I can’t stop raving about is Barbra Streisand’s autobiography, which I am listening to on audiobook. It’s not only that her voice is perfection, but that her life, even as singular as it is, is every woman’s life. She had to fight for her vision every step of the way, and develop a strength that carried her through. She’s an inspiration.
What can you tell us about your work-in-progress?
I am going to keep my next project close to the vest, but I am super excited about it! For once I’ll keep my mouth uncharacteristically shut.
Tell us about your writing space.
