Friends & Fiction co-founder and co-host Kristy Woodson Harvey’s A HAPPIER LIFE is out today! Our own Mary Kay Andrews called it “that wistful, sparkling summer song whose notes will long linger in reader’s memories.” Such a lovely description of this bookcation to Kristy’s own town of Beaufort, NC, where a historic home holds a long-buried family secret.
Inspired by the unusual deaths of Kristy’s great aunt and uncle in the 1970s (deaths that, in her mind, were never quite “solved”) and an abandoned house that Kristy was among the first people to enter after it had been closed up for fifty years, this novel is the culmination of two real-life events that have occupied Kristy’s imagination for decades.
A HAPPIER LIFE has topped summer “must-read” lists on Katie Couric, Cosmopolitan, Parade, Reader’s Digest, and so many more, and Annabel Monaghan summed it up as: “a family mystery wrapped in a love story (that) is also a gracious nod to tradition and the people who came before us,” proclaiming it: “the novel to read this year!”

We have a truly fabulous in-person event planned to celebrate the launch of Kristy Woodson Harvey’s A HAPPIER LIFE. This is your chance to hang out with the full Fab Four in the flesh — Kristy, Mary Kay Andrews, Kristin Harmel & Patti Callahan Henry, plus F&F’s Managing Director Meg Walker & librarian, podcast host & resident mixologist, Ron Block, too! This event promises to be one for the books, y’all. Come one, come all!
There’s a special pre-event Garden Party at 5pm where we will all mingle while enjoying light refreshments and cocktails! (FYI, that requires a separate add-on ticket, which you can get HERE.)
The main event kicks off at 7pm complete with panel talk, Q&A, autograph session, and photo opps.
It’s all going down at the Clark Family Branch of the St. Louis County Library in their brand-new, gorgeous Post Event Space. And our good pals at The Novel Neighbor are handling ticket and book sales.

You know how you save books to read, to savor them on vacation? I planned to get this and read this on Thursday on my hour plane ride to my best friend's wedding. But now I will be sitting with another guest besides my husband and am scared my time won't be money! So I have to read it now right? Today? Must make haste.
