For any aspiring writers out there, would you please share a short bit of writing advice?
I always tell aspiring writers three things: first, guard your writing time. Even now, no one tells me to take some time to write. I have to find the time and protect it. Second, be tenacious. For many years, I did not get published and people would ask why I kept going. You have to keep knocking on that door until it opens. Finally, learn to revise. One of the most helpful things I brought from being an attorney to being a novelist is the ability to take someone else’s feedback and incorporate it in my own voice.

What is the last book you raved about and what did you love about it?
I can’t stop raving about When Franny Stands Up by Eden Robins. It is set in WWII Chicago and is very reminiscent of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

What can you tell us about your work-in-progress?
