A Conversation with TJ Klune

A writing tip, book recommendation, and other great insights from TJ that were not covered in our on-air interview, which you can WATCH or LISTEN to now!

For any aspiring writers out there, would you please share a short bit of writing advice?
Read as much as you write. Read more than you write. You should never stop wanting to learn how to be a better writer, and reading fiction and non-fiction can help you to learn new ways to tell a story. Hell, reading fan-fiction is just as valid, too. In addition, there are so many “rules” pertaining to genres. Break them. Break all of them.

What is the last book you raved about and what did you love about it?
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of When the Tides Held the Moon by debut author Venessa Vida Kelley. I’ve known Venessa for years, as she is a wonderful artist who has done some tremendous pieces for my books, along with many other novels. What’s so cool to me is that not only is she excellent with her art, but she can also write too! How amazing is that? The book itself is thrumming with life, and I can’t wait for it to come out in 2025.

What can you tell us about your work-in-progress?
